Make up for all the blind support we've been giving Israel for decades? Win back some measure of trust from Muslims?

Obviously nuking is far too drastic a measure, but a complete disengagement with Israel and support of the Palestinian position would be a clear step in the right direction.

I recognize as much as anyone - more than most, I'm certain - that Islam is an enemy. An implaccable enemy, really. But that doesn't certain policies wouldn't be more effective in dealing with the threat it poses than the current pro-Israel ones.

I'm still waiting for that one positive that non-Zionists (Jews included) get from their governments being pro-Israel.

What does Israel get from the fact that the US is pro-Israel? A couple of billion dollars which Israel is forced to spend on extremely expensive US weapons anyway when it could just as easily buy cheap french, chinese or russian weapons instead? And this US support comes with hundreds of pre-conditions, requriments, restrictions and limitations tying their hands, limiting their options and affecting their decisions. Bad deal for Israel if you ask me.

This may come as a shock to you, but to me, living in Australia (or to non-Zionists living anywhere), why would I give a hoot about the fate of Israel? For the purposes of our little discussion, a 'pro-Palestinian' position would be one that favors Palestinians rather than Zionists. If that should mean the end of 'Israel', why should I care? I honestly no longer see any pevailing moral issue in favor of the existence of Israel. Indeed, the only prevailing moral issue is the immoral imposition of Zionists on the native Arabs.

It's no concern of mine what Israel 'really' gets. It's what Israel is perceived as getting. In Arab terms, that is seen as complete support.

There are some 150 million Arabs and some 1 billion Muslims in the world. I think it rather more pragmatic to get on their good side (however unreliable their good side might be), rather than on the good side of a few million Zionists.
