Israel Times: Israel Will Attack Iran Before November

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “is determined to attack Iran before the US elections,” Israel’s Channel 10 News claimed on Monday night, and Israel is now “closer than ever” to a strike designed to thwart Iran’s nuclear drive.

The TV station’s military reporter Alon Ben-David, who earlier this year was given extensive access to the Israel Air Force as it trained for a possible attack, reported that, since upgraded sanctions against Iran have failed to force a suspension of the Iranian nuclear program in the past two months, “from the prime minister’s point of view, the time for action is getting ever closer.”

Asked by the news anchor in the Hebrew-language TV report how close Israel now was to “a decision and perhaps an attack,” Ben-David said: “It appears that we are closer than ever.”

He said it seemed that Netanyahu was not waiting for a much-discussed possible meeting with US President Barack Obama, after the UN General Assembly gathering in New York late next month — indeed, “it’s not clear that there’ll be a meeting.” In any case, said Ben-David, “I doubt Obama could say anything that would convince Netanyahu to delay a possible attack.”

The report added that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak believe Obama would have no choice but to give backing for an Israeli attack before the US presidential elections in November.

Just yesterday Ahmadinejad said that Iran intended to destroy Israel and this week even the CIA admitted that Iran is very near to being able to produce nuclear weapons that can be carried as a ballistic missile warhead. It doesn't make sense for Israel to wait until it is attacked with a nuclear weapon before taking action. It may be inconvenient for Barrack Obama to have an attack take place before the election but it is a matter of life or death for Israel.

Iran has a death wish.

If Israel can destroy the Iranian leadership while they destroy the nuclear weapons capability that would be a good thing for the Iranian people. Obama didn't have the balls to support the protestors in Iran but they clearly want a democratic government and that might still be possible. Obama sat on his ass for 3 years while Iran developed nuclear weapons as though he wants the worst possible outcome for the US.

It is amazing how many times the Neocons can go to the exact same playbook.

We have already seen the movie, Weapons of Mass Destruction.:D
 
1) We have and a number of other nations have nukes.
Making it at least controversial if not down right difficult to justify telling other nations they can't have them.

2) In theory no nation, it's it right mind, would initiate an unprovoked first strike on any other nuclear nation, but then the rag head leaders of Iran are neither rational or logical.

3) IF Iran were to nuke Israel it would likely be the beginning of WWIII a nuclear holocaust and subsequent nuclear winter leaving BILLIONS dead in it's wake. Not to even mention it would render EVERYTHING we argue about here daily completely irreverent.

Possibly, but I also find it very plausible that if Obama were president when such an attack occurred, he would not retaliate against Iran with nukes. Maybe a harsh UN statement and sanctions, but Israel is increasingly unpopular with the international leftist elites who set the tone for Obama. The IOC wouldn't even commemorate the Israeli athletes killed by terrorists.

It's also likely Iran would use one its terrorist proxies to carry out an actual attack, thereby giving it some deniability. After all, it is very conceivable that Pakistan could supply nukes to terrorists as well, so there might be a real question of who was responsible.
