The Arabs objected to the creation of the Jewish state and fought a war against it. The Arab side lost the war, and the Palestinian state never really came into being. The territory allotted to the Palestinian state by the UN partition resolution was taken over by Israel and Jordan. About 780,000 Palestinians became refugees.

That's exactly my point. The land belongs to the state ( in this case state of Israel ) and it is totally legal under international law. The claim that the land belongs to one nation ( Arab nation in this case ) is invalid because if 2 nations have a claim on the same plot of land it would be illegal by UN to give a preference to one nation over another. Therefor in 1948 UN offered the POLITICAL solution by partitioning the land between 2 nations but Arabs rejected this offer because they wanted it all to themselves. And that's when all the problems started.
