You should have just admitted you don't know.Quote from bigarrow:
Sure in a general way, but I haven't read the Florida law. Here in Texas you can take lethal measures to protect yourself, but you can't start a fight then kill someone to protect yourself with some kind of charges being against you....
Stand your ground laws are simply an extension of castle laws. Laws born from English castle doctrine. That is a man's home is his castle so to speak.
Some countries and even a few US states legally require citizens to flee from danger/threats. Even in their own home. Castle laws allow the home owner to stand their ground so to speak in their home. IOW they're not required by law to flee from threats. Stand your ground laws are merely an extension of castle laws outside of ones home. Car boat plane trailer sidewalk what have you. In simple terms a SYG law says I have the legal right to stand my ground when threatened.
And here is the important part. SYG laws DO NOT in any way shape form or fashion allow the use of deadly force except in situations you were already authorized to use deadly force without the SYG law. With the SYG law I'm just no longer required by law to run like a rabbit when threatened outside the home/residence. Being a self proclaimed tough guy like you I would have thought you'd appreciate this.
Irrelevant LEGALLY speaking.Irrelevant ??? not to responding to your post it wasn't, you are the one who mentioned a large man.
