It is important to recognize that you are a child's parent, not their friend. You need to set standards, expectations, and responsibilities. You need to provide guidance so your children have friends who are good influences, strive for academic success, and have hobbies (sports, music, etc.) that keep them out of trouble during the tough teenage years.

Every child rearing expert in the modern era states that you need to be regularly involved and engaged in your child's daily life, and that you need to be totally on top of what they are doing via the internet & cell phone. This is not being a 'nightmare control freak' - it is just meeting the minimum criteria for responsible parenting.

The questions I asked relate DIRECTLY to parenting of older teenagers. They are not political at all. I could answer them easily and be quite comfortable with my answers. My goal was in fact to see if you were in fact a reasonable person, or one of the eccentrics on here. I'll give you one thing. It may be true that in your neighborhood, you needed to keep a tighter eye on your kids then I had to. And maybe even much more so in the Martin neighborhood.

One interesting thing is you didn't mention Zimmerman's family situation. I saw an interview of his brother on TV and know enough about Zimmerman himself ( minimal but enough ) to know I'm not comfortable with the attitudes coming out. But I can't know if its his family or the community they grew up in. I just know the worst result possible in his acquittal would be if they feel his actions that night were justifiable and moral.

LOL YOU get vilified and become the subject of a witch hunt by, the President of the United States, The U.S. Attorney General, the State of Florida, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the New Black Panthers, the NAACP, the Congressional Black Caucus, the Iranian Mullahs and just about every liberal and black organization in the U.S. and see if you don't have a bit of an attitude problem.
 
Sadly, Trayvon Martin at one point had a strong responsible parenting figure in his life who kept him on track. Alicia Stanley was Trayvon's step-mother 'between the time Trayvon was around 7 years old, up to the summer of 2010 when Trayvon was 15, Alicia was his Rock. His mom.'

She kept Trayvon on track and out of trouble. At several points in school he was on the A/B honor roll during this period. Trayvon was intelligent but he made very bad choices after Alicia Stanley was no longer in his life. Trayvon started drinking lean, smoking dope, and associating with unsavory characters in the summer of 2010.

This article 'The Alicia Stanley Story' outlines the situation very well including how Trayvon went completely downhill after Alicia Stanley was no longer present providing guidance as a responsible parent.

In the interview she outlines how she has been mistreated by Trayvon's father at the funeral, and that she believes Trayvon was not racially profiled by Zimmerman.

The racist libtards are mad because they lost on the Duke Lacrosse case and they lost here. One presumes it is hard to be a `tard, and it must be even harder to be a racist libtard getting proved wrong all the time. Gets to be that they haunt back alleys of the internet throwing non sequitur, one line comments to assuage their terrible pain. We should pity them, this is a truly painful experience and it only gets more painful. If they actually had a brain they would have figured out right from wrong, truth from fiction. Since they do not, one presumes they cannot and they suffer. Eventually the weakest "explode". Perhaps there is hope for them, post-explosion. But I suspect there is little for our resident racist libtards. Hopefully, I am wrong.
