It's not the error itself that drew me, but the serendipitous nature of the error. The equivalent of a full house.

Ah, there it is again: What they did was far worse than what we did.
Putin is the head of Russia. ISIS is a world recognized terrorist group. There's a little bit of difference there, even if you don't personally like Putin.
You're just not appreciating the irony of it. As for the differences between the two, they certainly exist, but let's make no mistake: neither is friendly towards the West, both have made their malevolent presence known on foreign soil in one way or another, and one is far more devious.
Lots of irony today on a whole host of subjects that conservatives used to bash Obama for, but are good now that Trump is in power. Liberals, on the other hand are tripping over themselves to point out how horrible Trump is, but ignored and were fine with Obama's administration and Obama himself doing similar. Both sides are full of hypocrisy, but that doesn't make it right.
The rest of us, who are more concerned with making the right decisions than whether or not our side is "right", are getting pretty pissed at the whole game.
Any rational human being should agree with this statement.
