The CBS article which "daily caller" uses as a source appears not to mention anything about whether the policeman was armed or not. If you can find any such mention in the source material, please quote it.

The UK’s Independent reported that “three policemen arrived on bikes but had to leave because [the attackers] were armed.” A policeman who had been assigned the position of bodyguard to Charlie Hebdo editor, Stephane Charbonnier, was killed, and one policeman on a mountain bike was killed, as well.

Starting over, we don't know that he wasn't armed. Those who were not armed were not shot; they fled.

We know he wasn't armed. Only DB doesn't. As for "those who were not armed were not shot", I guess there were at least 12 armed people at the comic paper.
