I wouldn't have a problem if the Washington Redskins wanted to change their name to the Washington Crusaders, although I think the Washington Nanticokes would be better.
We have to do the same thing here in Toronto at the financial institutions. The list of demands is endless.... but you do not want to be dragged in front of the of the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) by rejecting them.
somewhere in there, the concept of separation of Church and State got lost, especially now when the State has their greedy hands in just about everything. If you are doing anything, you probably have some connection to the State. If our founding mothers realized how it was gong to go, they would have said, "Separation of everyday normal activities and State."

The left needs to treat Islam the same way it treats Christians, with total disdain. I have no problem with that. Until then it's just more hypocrisy from the left along with cowardice.

The Canadian Charter does guarantee. Freedom of religion under the Charter means that Canadians are free to practice their religions in a non-harmful fashion (e.g. the Multani case), while freedom from religion means that Canadians cannot be forced to adopt a religious practice (e.g. the Big M Drug Mart case)." This is different than having a separation of Church and State which is not provided in the Canadian Charter.

I will note that the United States is one of the few western countries with a separation of Church and State. Many western countries also have a Church Tax. For example in Germany, "Taxpayers, whether Roman Catholic, Protestant or members of other tax-collecting communities, pay an amount equal to between 8% (in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg) and 9% (in the rest of the country) of their income tax to the church or other community to which they belong."

don't mention the word "tax" or I go on my rant. When you think about it, for most of us, our only interaction with the government is once a year in the form of taxes. If I was King, I would completely eliminate all tax free non profit organizations and eliminate any tax exemption for charitable donations. Don't get me started, this was a nice "church" thread.
