There's a huge difference.
We've evolved and no longer practice that barbarism. We did that in less than 50 years. There are countless examples of a culture/nation doing bad things to people. But they all evolved and no longer do those things. The muslims? Not so much. They practice a faith/beliefs rooted in the 6th century. For hundreds of years, their beliefs and their treatment of "infidels" has not changed. They're still barbarians.

As usual, this thread has declined in the same manner as all similar threads to "who's to blame"? The subject of the thread, however, is not fixing blame but pointing out that we're no better than those whom we condemn. The only thing that prevents us from seeing that is our vaunted but delusional "exceptionalism".
