Is your trading strategy more like fishing or hunting?

As an analogy to trading:

Be very leery of fishing if everyone has been catching huge amounts of fish and you hear "this lake has the best fishing anywhere".

I think trading is like fishing, you always have a line in the water, most of the time you get small fish, or even lose your line, but from time to time, you get a big one.
I read from a book somewhere, a big trader once said "the fishing is great, but the catching sucks! "

Cheers!! :)

Fishing

You analyse and research for a good spot to sit, then you settle, you wait, you catch, and than you head home.

Where some luck can be involved, but the good fishermen always seem to be in that "lucky" position everyday!.

Never come home empty handed

:D

If I had to pick one I'd say "fishing".

But I would qualify it by saying that I use great bait and fish in heavy populated waters knowing I'll get a few bites every day and then patiently wait for most of the fish to tire out and relent to my victory.

Dear TMTrader,

It looks like your "." forum has even more success than this one. Keep on inventing new ones.

Stalker. Wait, watch, observe then pull it into the van and club it over the head. If it does not behave after a short time throw it out while moving fast and watch it tumble away.....

I might have some issues :cool:

Some fish must be hunted, so poll is incorrectly defined...

Should be ...Maybe is your trading like....

Hunting Style : Scanners, news searches, TV watching over 50 to 500 symbols

Watch Style : 10 to 20 favourite symbols sit a watch, study...

Mine is hunting...in this tough market !

Quote from TMTrader:

Do you feel in trading more like a hunter who stalks his pray or more like a fisherman who tosses his hook/web and wait?

Like to topwater bass fish some;
bigmouth green bass hits!!! , jumps skyward and crashes ,fighting all the time.:cool:

Favorites include ;
HIGH volume game bird shooting,always careful with safety rules.

Find the current pattern of deer tracks;wait early and or late like a mountain lion in a tree.

The latter strategy ;
modified Mark Weinstein's cheetah-impala pattern.:)
