Is Twitter Taking over news Services?

Seems more and more market moving news is being posted on Twitter these days.

Are there apps that stream this stuff? Twitter manual updates seems like a pita.

Seems like mirc chatrooms are dying off,while more and more trading related chat is showing up on Twitter.

There are apps that allows you to setup your own real-time twitter feeds so that whenever a key word you've highlighted...only those tweets that contains the key word will be shown to you.

I use tweetdeck and its mobile too @ http://www.tweetdeck.com/

Also, there was a recent discussion on Bloomberg where several professional traders say they use twitter and stocktwits for collaboration during the trading day.

Maybe the SEC should pay more attention to twitter and stocktwits. :D

IRC chat rooms still have many advantages that twitter and stocktwits do not have. Yet, the real-time news issue is a big edge for twitter and stocktwits.

That's why I use both IRC and twitter.
