Is trading sexualy inviting...

Quote from chicagoshorty:

What do you all trade?
Forex only here. I don't pretend to understand stocks at all. I trade without indicators, usually just 1-2-3-formations and Ross-hooks. Today was Cable only for me, but Cable was easy today, just went (a)long for the ride. :)

What the fuck is this?

I clicked on this link because i saw the word sex. ??????
I can only imagine your pain and disappointment. Perhaps a moment of silence would be a suitable display of respect and deference.

Quote from BCE:

My sentiments exactly. A friend of mine introduced me last week to his friends at a restaurant as a daytrader. And he meant it in a positive way as he trades the markets too. And one guy said something like, "Oh, are you going to pull a gun and shot us all." He didn't mean anything by it, just a bad joke. But the term "daytrader" definitely has connotations of irresponsibility and maybe instability thrown in. I forget who it was here who said to people when they asked what he did something like, "I design and implement derivative and equity systems." I liked that one. :D

I think most people, honestly are just plain old jealous. Most times when I tell people what I do, I just say I make my living off the internet, which is not a lie. I not only trade but also have an ecommerce site. When people ask my occupation and I tell them, they sometimes get a funny look in their eye, almost like they are thinking how do you do that? When they make wisecracks or smartass remarks like 'yea sure, do you make any money at that?" I just remind myself it's their defense mechanism kicking in because it something they can't comprehend or understand.

Some of my friends plain out ask me how much I make per year at my internet businesses, my response always is "how much do you make at your job in a year?" that quickly shuts them up, Why do people not think this is work?? They make it sound like I am sitting in my house playing video games all day! My only conclusion is that it's just jealousy. Amazing the audacity some people have.

when years are good and it is apparent, most people envy the money and freedom to call your own shots. however, when the market is tight they are the first with the i told you so. my conclusion is similar to what most have expressed in this thread. something that is incomprehensible to narrow minded individuals will always cause them to draw extreme and often wrong conclusions. i never speak about my profession to non traders, i say that i am doing well and my business is growing. if they ask what exactly do you do i say, 'do you have like 6 hours for me to explain', and knowing most people's attention span it does the trick. perfect example, my uncle was a commodities trader for 20 years. when i asked him what he did he always replied in a way that unless i was serious in my interest he would deter me to follow up. he is an engineer though and i've heard they tend to bore people more easily though :)

Quote from sdtrader:

you people that like to make up titles for trading just crack me up.

Why do you give a flying f*ck what peoples reaction is to your job?

I am a trader. Make a fine living doing it. Couldn't care less what people think of "traders"

Perhaps:

- He was trying to score
- The person is a potential client
Etc.

Im gonna be honest here, Im yet to know someone successful that practices this "I don't give a f*ck what peoples reaction is to..." dogma.

The whole "is TRADING sexually inviting" question misses the point.

MONEY is sexually inviting.

Doesn't matter if you're a trader, consultant, building contractor, restaurant entrepeneur, or salesman. If you're not a royal a$$hole - then if you've got money, you're inviting - if you don't, you're not.

Of course, if you lack money (and at least a modicum of charm and wit) and you're hoping to toss out a sexy sounding job title to make up for it, just make one up.

How about "former international currency trader" (got to be "former" 'cause you're not doing it now).

Maybe "retired CIA assassin" - for the girls looking for a bad boy.

Hey, who knows, "extra large condom model" might even work

:) :) :) :)

I've noticed in my lifetime, that women like the smell of money.

ie, if you have some, if they think you have some, if you look like you have some, if you implly you have some, and more improtantly if you look gullible and they think they can get some of yours.

But don't go to town with the old hat and mud or horsekrap on you boots, even though you've got a nice spread, you'll only get ignored.

Try working out bud. A solid six pack and a pretty face can get women to pay for your dinner. Keep the money in the bag as long as possible.
