Nothing in life is sure, nothing is 100%... you can be reasonably sure of your results over time if you have become a pro but never on a single trade... toss a coin and tell me with 100% assurity if it will be heads or tails... you cant and you never will.... but we know we will get roughly 50 heads and 50 tails over a 100 tosses... thats trading... thats probability... and for the better punters... thats gambling

T28. There are MANY other types of trading than just taking directional bets (calling heads or tails). e.g straddles, strangles and options. For the basic day trader who is just guessing which way the market will move, I agree its gambling. But once you get into more complex trading, you can remove risk and you deal in the realms of known costs. Not gambling :P

Semantics... a bookie does the same thing... a pro gambler too

Really? If I sell you a widget for 1$, the same instant I buy another widget for 0.50$. is that gambling?

And THEN.....you double on the side that is for you with a 50% BE...no "gamble" left...It's the getting there and the time on your side thingie...

to sweeten the pot...you play both sides in the ebbs and flows and have a perpetual "not Gambling" ATM...

Semantics again, offsetting bets

Where is the bet? Im not taking a directional view on which way the price of the widget will go? I could'nt care less if it goes up or down.
