The only difference I can think of, and it is kinda moot I think, is I have never played either online poker or video poker which to me is not really poker. I have of course traded online, though.
Mmmm. Have you ever played no-limit Hold-em?

...But even so I will not let myself get so low that I can't play out a monster hand.
Is it Gambling
Or Not
If you know anything about poker or if you have ever played in the final tables of a large tournament you will know that in order to get your paycheck LUCK is the number one factor (especially at this level).
Sure you can beat up the tourists and the newbies some of the time but even then, they don't know enough to be scared and will call you all the way down to the river and catch a straight (once again) luck.
At the higher level games where you have skilled player versus skilled player you may have a shot because now it's just a matter of skill levels but still luck plays a factor 50% of the time.
I have made a living from both trading and poker and I personally prefer trading hands down and I still say they are worlds apart in comparison mostly because of the LUCK factor.
Funny.
I made money from poker. I prefer poker actually. Maybe you only play tournaments exclusively which of course luck will play a big role. I play live cash games mainly and its too easy to make money. There will always be some fishes in these games or people tilting and going crazy with their money.
Do you play them in a real casino, or online?
Home games.
Its is a game of skill with money. Same as poker.
It cant be gambling, as there are people who turned nothing into fortunes day in and out of the markets.
