Quote from bigarrow:
Have you noticed on Amazon whenever an author reviews another author's book, it's always a 5 star glowing review. There must some kind of writers club.
I've noticed the opposite at Amazon and here at ET itself. In fact, many times I have seen folks complaining at various forums about authors using multiple aliases to attack other authors along with accusing the same authors of doing such at Amazon via aliases to hide their identity.
Simply, maybe that's why you don't see an author use his/her "known author alias" to attack openly another author. Common sense should tell anyone it wouldn't be a smart thing to do. Yet, an author using a different anonymous alias can say anything he/she wants about the competition (other authors).
Therefore, there's no secret society amongst book authors...its a cut throat business regardless if you're talking about folks that write books or about folks that writes about politics, gardening, traveling, the pope or anything else especially with today's social media allowing for "anonymity" that wasn't available 20 years ago.
