is this too much or just enough computer

Well other than your workstation advice, your insistence on never building oneself is similar BS. So, speak for yourself mate.

Au Contraire.

I built one myself just for the experiencem but never inteded to use it in trading. Didn't save much money. Wasn't worth the effort. Had issues. BIY for a trading rig is completely unecessary and devoid of financial or functional value*. So... I pass the results of that info along.

* I understand... that BIY-ers are like arguing religion.... DAMNED convinced they are right, but not.

So all that means is YOU did a poor job researching, choosing components, and building. Case closed.

"Case closed"... TALKING OUT YOUR ASS YET AGAIN!!

I don't like to put posters "on ignore" for other than Anti-America Lefty/Communist posts in the Politics forum... buy damn, you're coming close.

Thanks for having derailed a previously useful thread yet again. Great job. And nobody here cares about your political affiliation. Keep it to yourself. And I won't reply further to your posts unless you manage to get your temper under control and are able to get back on topic.

I didn't "derail" a damned thing. I merely called out your BS.

No worries, Buckeroo. It's obvious you've got nothing to say of value or importance, so I'm putting you ON IGNORE!! Suggest you do the same for me.

Thanks for all the spirited Debate! nice to have some feeling in it! makes hardware exciting!

I started bogging pretty hard today while running several instances of my algo and backtest... Im problem solving one against a different method and really started to bog the computer down

TOS wanted to shut down and be given more disk space... ive been told not to do that...

anyways this is something I want to be able to fly through with the new computer! But keep price down if I can help it...

thanks all

I don't agree with @Scataphagos attidude, he seems to have some issues with having to be right all the time. But on video cards he is correct. You can plug as many video cards and as powerful video cards as you please into any modern computer and as many PCIe slots as you have available. You can beyond that connect more 4k displays via USB-HDMI or USB-DP adapter. Driving monitors is not a function of the CPU or general computer resources but of the graphics cards.
It's sad that so many people here don't know that they are talking about.
Obviously, ET is not the best to get advices on computers.
Btw, Scat is one of the more savvy about hardware on this forum. I'm not always on his side, but at least he knows what he's talking about.

Well, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I was quite certain that several GPU's would require more power, (watts) than just any old computer has available. I'm ok with being wrong!

All you need is a basic laptop to make a killing in the shock market.
I always roll my eyes at traders with four or forty computer monitors surrounding their desk 360 degrees o_O,

Just some random food for thought...on your trade strategy and viewpoint and how you collectively think about trading and approach the market, -- Hopefully this will open your eyes and mind a bit,

Might be... if you're considering running "1st person shooter game on four, 4K monitor array"... where every pixel on every screen gets refreshed 120 times per second. Not the case with a trading rig.
