Is this approach valid?

Risepoint1879,

No it does not mean less. A candle pre market has no different then a candle after market. I trade the pre market if an oppurtunity presents its self, only. But I do not over do it beacuse I know more volumne comes once the market opens. If I have a loss in the pre market, I like to wait to after bell to take another trade.

For example, here is a trade I took Friday pre market at 7:03 am central. When an opputunity comes, just have to take it and manage the results.

The 9:30 and onward candles have much greater volume than the premarket, doesn't that make them have more weight to their direction?

Risepoint1879,
Just because there is greater volume does not mean there will have greater direction. Sometimes after 9:30 the bars have no directions, back and forward.

8:30 to 9:30 is valid trading times if there is a trader setup present. To me, its all about looking for the opportunity to make money. And sometimes pre market present those opportunities. You just have to watch the chart to see.
