Is there anybody here from France ?

Quote from kalinka:

I´m swedish but have lived outside Sweden since 1988,
mainly in Portugal and the French Riviera.
The crimerate in Cannes and surrondings is terrible.
Cap d Antibes, watch up, all drugusers from Antibes
make a living on raids in C´d Antibes, if you want to live
there buy some guns and two securitiesguards 24 hour
per day! Don´t stop for red lights in the evening and
please drive a simple car with Rivieraplates.
I´m happy only three robberies during 10 years,
otherwise everything is very nice!

We don't have crime in Andorra.

Quote from science_trader:

That's what I heard too. I knew people who where buying a flat in 5 or even more and kept it for years unused. Then it was said you can ask for a residency there after a given number of years. But that's only a 'I heard that'. Not to be taken as a truth.
If you don't use your flat, you might not get the residency...
Police would come to your door to see if you actually live there or check the lights etc. That's what I read in a book about offshore.

Quote from atorchio:

I remeber having seen a TV special on Monaco.

They showed a guy who purposedly left on his open Porsche a 100 Euro bill. Anyone could have grasped it.

Hors later the same guy came back and saw money was still there.

Probably 100 Euro was not enough... :D
People don't steel there not necessary because of the amount of money. Police is all over, Monaco has the highest number of policemen per sqft.Besides that it's very animated, everybody would see somebody taking a Ferrari or money..:)

Quote from Xenia:

Means that you need 100k in your bank account,

after you bought yourself an ugly apartment (94 sq. mtrs) ?
With the money you'd save from non taxable income, you might afford a bigger apartament.

Quote from atorchio:

Really? I thoguht the victim was american.

The billionaire that was killed was Israeli. He was killed by his American male nurse who started a fire in the guy's penthouse apartment. The male nurse was convicted of the crime but showed obvious signs of mental illness.

Nobody blames the Monaco police for the crime, just for how they responded to it. They have a cop for every 60 something residents in Monaco but it took them 45 minutes to go upstairs after they arrived at the building. The victim's head of security got to the building shortly after the fire began and the cops handcuffed him to keep him from going upstairs. Then to top it off, while awaiting trial for the murder, the perp escaped from the Monaco jail and got out of Monaco. French police picked him up in Nice.
