re Australia.....the current labour government has successfully ripped the guts out of what was a good surplus and put every Aussie in about $9k debt to fund a vote buying handout frenzy. British tobacco, Carlton united brewery and Tabcorp are the only real beneficiaries. And now they want to smash our heavy industry with a carbon trading scheme that the rest of the western world is shying away from.....sorry, I needed to vent! If you're a fair dinkum Aussie you'll know what I'm ranting about.

I gotta admit that I'm dubious about the cash handouts, but quite a lot of the stimulus money is going into school infrastructure, which is not a bad thing.

Does anyone think investment banks function more as banks as commercial banks do??
Their main difference is that investment banks funds come from investors who are willing to give their money to banks to receive an % payment.
Commercial banks in the other hand use depositors money to engage in FRL so they can loan and make money.
In my opinion investment banks play a more convervative role than commercial banks do. That explains why a lot of then have already gone under.
