Is the CBOT down?

Quote from MiniDowTrader:

Would feel A LOT better if the ES can take out 1290.

Me too,,,we are going to retest lows,, maybe volume will pick up and take it out. But that still doesn't mean anything unless I can close the trade and take the profit. This will be an interesting day.

Any one piece of technology isn't perfect, of course. But all backups to the 'main' piece of technology?

When your entire electronic business is technology based, how does a company like the ECBOT not have tons of backups to prevent the stoppage of all electronic business?

Seriously, how does this happen?

I would like to know how it happens to seems to happen at once a year, which is why the pit will always be there. Wasnt the ecbot extremely slow on Monday as well? Could this have anything to do with grains going electronic on Tuesday?

can't call? thats wierd. phones down also,or only certain people have access?

it should be safe to know whether your broker can access to the pit...most can but not all , at least directly.

Let's say the ES drops to 1284 then the eCBOT hooks up the jumper cables and gets movin'....

...what happens to the orders that were on the servers? Do they all get filled? Or pulled?

I've got to say - HOW does an entire exchange just stop working? I mean, that's all they do on the ECBOT is move data. And what exactly happens short of a terrorist attack on every piece of (hopefully collocated) infastructure to cause an entire market to stop trading?

Seriously, aren't there at least a half dozen backups in place to prevent the entire exchange from shutting down?

If somebody has an idea how this can happen, please enlighten me.

Its rigged.
