i dont count intraday dips, has to close above 200dma.
QQQ never touched 200dma\ SPY did touch it\ but no close above 200dma.

I tested them quite a bit\ some times 200sma is better + some times 200ema is better; both are good.
Adding to the complexity, 200 wma is a good also .
And different chart services may give slightly different numbers on a 200ema; good ,,we dont want to run for the exits @ same time\LOL

Good points. I've never used he wma before but will take a look to see the difference. Kinda got used to the ema and just stuck with it. I remember doing a test of 50 x 200 for trend change and it appeared at that time that the ema version for both was better. But my testing was hardly enough
