Is Technical Analysis a joke??

I kind agree, btw I’m getting it online of course. About guru, I got some and they are really good. Not to many. Btw somebody may be an excellent teacher but ave trader. I met such people too. You seams, had bad experience with those guys. Look, we need more people to be attracted by market especially now. They are teachings folks, why not.

When I started out learning about trading, I paid for some services. Most of it no good. A lot of those things they tout on TV, if you go to a presentation, it is nothing but, a hard sell, we guarantee you will make a $1,000,000 in the stockmarket but, the guy speaking cannot show 1 setup to even prove he is a competent trader. No, he is not. He is nothing but, a salesman hyping their training and gets his cut from the turnips they sign up. It is huge market no doubt and they are making, tens of millions, the big groups on TV. I learned and figured things out on my own and trade my own monies for my own account. Be warned. There are a lot of charlatans out there.

Everyone can teach how to trade. Doesn't mean it actually works. Sure he will be teaching some useful things to new traders but it isn't a holy grail.

How many of his students have made more in profits than the costs of the course from his teaching? Probably not much.
It definitely does not worth these money. I’m getting some online for free.
However not everybody can teach, the same as not everybody can trade, or sing. About students, if you have skills you may need some kick to start.

I got you. First I also making money for myself and Commander and chief of my own and my wife's account. I’m doing it from 90th. I’m not paying for it a dime. But I like to get some new things. I can filter what they teaching. Anyway I got you point.

being old, as in a senior/retired, I have time to reflect, I was to believe TA was essential to investing & trading

today I figure its all bunk, for the reason it tells me historical base facts.

today I don't use TA, what the analysts pipe, what the media spew out ... historical information, even 24 hours ago old or futures, doesn't help me with a trade that I make today.

take the drop in the S&P yesterday, did anyone call the 2.3% rise today - before the fact?

I am a senior too. With what I know from learning about trading stocks and options all those years, I only wish I could bring back 30 years and use my knowledge of technical analysis then. I would have done very well and probably become filthy rich. Not too late though. I figure I got 10 years to make hay and make it count. As bad as 2020 has been to most traders, I have done well and hope to continue it to the very end of 2020. This could be my best year since, I started trading. At the end of 2020, I hope to re-assess and see my progress.

TA, Price evaluation, news, intuition those all your tools needed. But if you want to use only one of these you should be guru genius. Should be combination. Sometimes TA may lie. But not a reason to dismiss it.
Moral: TA helps but be careful.

Price / Regression line, large enough deviation can cause price to return to mean.

Is TA a joke? It depends on the time horizon to which you are attempting to apply TA.

Personally, I prefer Market Profile/Volume Profile over TA.
