Is scalping still viable

Do successful scalpers REALLY still exist today? I am talking about at least 5 years profitable trading. The few scalpers my family knew all switched timeframes or retired a long time ago because algos changed the game in terms of risk/reward. Do you know any? I am not talking about daytrades holding for a few minutes to hours, I am talking about those who are in and out dozens of times a day.
Hello David's faith,

Yes I am scalper of the ES future market.

I have 2 automation scalping systems, been running 10 years. But it is not like doing hundreds of trades like the 80/90s. Each risk few ticks to make 1-6 ticks about a dozen times a day over 20 futures. But new systems I develop risk few ticks and aim for far greater in points.

Days of old are gone
Hello Handle123,

Congratulations to you on the success of your 2 automation scalping systems. I have tried for nearly 2 years to build a scalping systems on the ES, and it is very tuff. So congrats to you, I know the hard work it takes.

The hardest part is not having enough r/r trades and then running into situations where you give it all back and start trading emotionally and eventually blow up your account.

It's very hard to manage your emotions and be consistent doing 100+ trades a day that leads to mental exhaustion.

I prefer holding your winners strategy.

Your recent posts were about long-term trading / swing trading / position trading.

So I presume you are not a scalper even though you have the new systems.

I have been scalping for many years and still do so. HFTs here, blabla there.... just open a DOM for NQ and watch it for the first 60 minutes of the regular session each day, and tell me there are not countless opportunities to scalp 1-5 points within seconds.

True!!

As a scalper for years to over a decade now, I'm at all point where I trade like a machine whenever an opportunity presents. However, to survive as a scalper there are many things you've to watch out for. One of the examples is that I'd stop scalping as soon as volume dries up because I'd give back more than gaining.

Once you know well about intraday PA + years of scalping experience, you'll be able to generate high win rates from there.
