It's real in a bull market, when 90% of stocks rise, and a scam in a bear market, when the majority of stocks stagnate or fall.
why can't they just go short? dont see any logic in your statement
that's not true, i spoke to one of the guy who work in a prop, he told me he was short the whole day...

-Hardly any will make 40k their first year.
-You can be short or long most stocks at any time.
-Without prop trading I would be working a desk job somewhere, instead of enjoying a "traders life" for the last 10 years.
Understand, the only real difference between retail and prop these days is increased buying power and little to no training.
