Is Obama's View On Abortion Too Extreme

To many Illlinoisians Barrack Obama's ONLY notable legislative "achievement" was his opposition to the Illinois Alive Infant Protection Act.

The law would have been to abortion what wet foot-dry foot is to Cuban immigration. A baby born alive during a botched abortion would be given help to live. As is abortion doctors are not legally compelled to change their roll from abortionist to giver of life. Obama's stand was a central issue in his 2004 campaign for the U.S. Senate against Alan Keyes. In a poignant political cartoon, Jack Higgins the old school Democrat cartoonist for Obama's cheer leading daily, the Chicago Sun-Times took aim at the Dem nominee.

There's been quite a stir concerning Sarah Palin's "extreme" view of life. Also quite a contrast to Obama's.

Personally it sounds like a superficial nonsense topic to a problem that doesn't exist, but okay, I'll bite.

The Republicans passed a critical law about this burning issue back in 2002.

How many fetuses have been saved because of this important legislative achievement?

And a follow up: why don't Obama's state senate record which includes him gaining "bipartisan support for legislation reforming ethics and health care laws, sponsoring a law enhancing tax credits for low-income workers, negotiating welfare reform, and promoted increased subsidies for childcare" count as notable legislative achievements?

The "Republicans" passed it? Actually the vote was 98-0. Of course if Obama had been in the Senate it would've been 98-1.

An amoral Orwellian creature like Obama is just the guy I want as Chief Administrator of National Socialist Health Care. "Sorry sir we see you're 65. You'll be dying soon anyway. Rather than wasting 200k on your heart we'll be using that money to give 5000 illegal Mexicans their flu vaccine. You'll understand it's for the greater good."

Because they're all phantom bullshit bills. The one I crack up at is the "reforming welfare laws". That MAJOR piece of legislation was hammered out and passed the year BEFORE Obama was elected. There must be some additional Acts passed later that Obama voted for. It would be like you writing a 500 page book and me saying "hey I dotted a few i's in the appendix!" Not to mention: could that Reform Act have passed if there'd been an Obama/Emil Jones majority as there was during his second term? Not on your life. The very notion that a bunch of Black Chicago majority Dem's would cut welfare to their core constituency is laughable.

If Obama had been a LEADER who ACHEIVED anything beyond his pale bullshit "bio"-that moronic lib lapdogs eat up-his list would look like this.

Obama spearheaded funding for energy saving mass transit so that the Chicago Transit Authority no longer needs to slash services each year as it totters on the brink of bankruptcy.

Obama hammered out a deal with Chicago unions and teachers bringing much needed relief to the nations third largest school system as it teeters on insolvency each fall.

Obama led a bi-partisan effort to pass tort reform lessening the malpractice insurance premiums of doctors whose departures from Illinois have left the state woefully understaffed of MD's.

Obama passed ethics reform curtailing Chicago's use of city workers doing political work for Democrats as a prerequisite to job fitness.

Obama sat down with warring gang factions in his South Side neighborhood leading to a truce and saving the lives of the THIRTY Chicago school children killed in the 2007-2008 school term.

THOSE would've been achievements. Instead Obama brags he helped pass some limp wristed bs increase in “child health care.” Whatever.

Obama should be teaching law somewhere. Or maybe Obama, Ayers and Wright can get an MSNBC gig together. Sarah would out work and out solve Obama 8 days a week.

Sen. Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) portrays himself as a thoughtful Democrat who carefully considers both sides of controversial issues, but his radical stance on abortion puts him further left on that issue than even NARAL Pro-Choice America.

In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. That same year a similar federal law, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, was signed by President Bush. Only 15 members of the U.S. House opposed it, and it passed the Senate unanimously on a voice vote.

Both the Illinois and the federal bill sought equal treatment for babies who survived premature inducement for the purpose of abortion and wanted babies who were born prematurely and given live-saving medical attention.

There are 435 seats in congress -- you're probably mistaking your reference to the state senate to my reference to the Republicans passing this critical bill federally.

That brings us back to the point of the bill - what has it done? How many fetuses have been saved?

Or, as I suspect, was it just a disgusting example of pandering that wasted time, distracted from real issues, and wasted taxpayer money for nonsense?

I gave you the Federal bill's 98-0 vote in the U.S. Senate. It passed the House 380-15.

It was Obama who WASTED time and money stalling a vote on Born Alive in Illinois.

Obviously any bill that passes the U,.S. Senate 98-0 is quite popular. The Illinois version and the Federal legislation were identical. Obama is one of the few people in America to oppose Born Alive.

The number of babies saved? I'm sure greater than the zero number of women who've become pregnant from gang rapes and forced to give birth because of Sarah Palin.
