Is Obama a good CEO of America, Inc.?

Quote from bone:

Everybody that earns money should pay SOMETHING in taxes. Come on... seriously. If you think that someone making $24,000 in a year shouldn't pay SOMETHING - even $200 a year, in income taxes - then you are a socialist by nature and have no business living in a free enterprise economy. Right now, that person making $24,000 per year actually GETS PAID to file a tax return - it is called an "earned income tax credit". He gets a CHECK from the US Treasury for filing. Seriously. Even if a citizen is on pure government dole, they should file a tax return and pay something - even if it's $50 per year. It is called being a fair citizen. You viewpoint illustrates perfectly why politics and this country is more polarized than ever - we have the takers and we have the givers. And this is all a rather recent invention in American society - the first 150 years of our nation's history was not at all like this.
well, after he pays pays medicare taxes, and social security taxes and fuel taxes and sales tax, there just isn't much left.

I'm not a socialist. I don't believe that just because you have some money you should give it to my government. $200 a year may not seem like much, but after 10 years you can finally open a brokerage account and buy your first stock. The time for paying income taxes will come soon enough. And a lot sooner if your paycheck is not pillfered before you can even get on your feet.

I posted this in Career Trader since its mostly about taxes, my wheelhouse.

What do you think about President Obama as CEO of America, Inc.?

Do you see my point about tax hikes being like price increases on your best customers?

Sure, the Presidency is far different from being a CEO, but to create jobs and improve the economy it's good to think a bit like a CEO and listen to other CEOs, too. Do you agree?
If CEO Obama cuts FTEs, does he improve the bottom line of his company?

Tough shit his employer should pay his half when he earns it the other hundred dollars needs to come out of beer cigs and lottery money.

No. Instead he must transfer headcount from government to the private sector. he can accomplish this by shrinking the unprofitable division (government) and allowing the private sector "portion" of his company to get more resources.

Quote from oldtime:

half the country doesn't pay income taxes because they are too poor.

That's why his employer pays it for him the other can be garnished from whatever govt freebies they are getting , welfare, food stamps wic etc etc.

Well said.

Absolutely agree.

I wouldn't have as much of a problem with my taxes being raised 3 percent if they made EVERYBODY pay that 3 percent.

I would even go so far as to agree to a sliding scale of 1-3% depending on how much you made.

BUT EVERYBODY HAS TO PAY SOMETHING!

anything else you want from me? Maybe a night with my wife? Apparently anything I have belongs to you. Didn't we already go through this when we were farmers in England and the King's men came in and told us what we owed to the Royal Crown?

there are some dark places where I can buy beer and cigarettes and bet on things where you can't find me

Pure fantasy.

99.99999% of those non taxpayers will NEVER open a brokerage account or use that money for any sort of investment.

1) yeah when you buy your wic groceries know what you can and cannot buy(with my money) before you get to the register.
I'm tired of being held up 10 minutes every time you get to the register.

2) No thanks only legal tender will do.
3) Same standard that the govt holds me to why not you?

well that's cool, that puts me in the top .0000000001%,

aint I special?

and who's paying taxes now?

I doubt you know very much about 99.999% of non taxpayers

yet you talk like you are quite the authority

You can get a lot farther helping people than bashing them

and it's a piss poor situation when I have to bash you

especially when it's so obvious you need help
