Is mike vick worth it?

Quote from wildchild:

The Packers barely made it into the playoffs last year and they had a much more talented team than Philly, so that doesnt bode well for Rodgers.

How does "having a much more talented team than Philly" not "bode well for Rodgers" ? Please explain how having the fourth youngest team in the NFL with that level of talent "not bode well" for the almighty Aaron Rodgers ? Do you not have any regard for the God that is Aaron Rodgers ? Kneel before him, you heathen.

thy deserve it because of taxes and expenses?? that's essentially your pathetic argument. i got taxes too, don't i deserve 100X more than i'm worth?
So to you, vick is worth 1 mil over 6 years, 400k guaranteed. Got it. You have to understand there are those who think a star player, on a billion dollar franchise, playing the most important position in the game, is worth a little more than that, including a few NFL GMs.

People have to face it when they see these bloated numbers. The nfl is up to 7 billion a year in revenues now. Vick was a top 5 MVP (as in most valuable in the entire league) candidate last year and barring the likely (to me) injury, he'll be top 5 again this year. It's a cotract year and he gets paid. that last sentence doesn't do much for the 'deserve' argument, but you didn't want to hear about how the NFL chews up and spits out players every single day because they were hurt doing their job.

he's 4 inches and 30lbs+ short of a real NFL quarterback.. you'll see

Yeah but he also runs the fourty as quick as most DB's.

Quote from wildchild:

There are a lot of teams that would make the same offer to Vick if they had the chance.

That is exactly what drives price UP. It is entirely possible other teams were offering 80-90 mill, so the Eagles had to cough up 100 mill if they wanted to keep him.

Getting a player is an investment. And the price depends on what other teams think of that player, not on reality....

They had the franchise tag on him though so they could have held off till the end of the year, and not paid him a dime.

In my opinion they wanted to give Vick a little bit of breathing room, remember that this "6 year contract" is only guaranteed for this year and next year, they can drop him after that and they dont owe him a dime. So basically they were saying that they were commited to him for atleast 2 seasons, which makes sense in a way, because you dont want a guy like Vick to be hesitant, because he is holding out for a contract, last year he played balls to the wall because he knew that if he didnt do well, he would never be a starter again, You cant have a guy like vick playing tentatively. I think the contract they gave him was smart, because it gives him incentive to play hard and not half ass it just so he could be healthy for a contract next year. I highly doubt Vick will play out all six years on this contract.

Andy Reid is the second smartest coach in football behind belichick, i trust his judgement.

Vick locked in a cage with a bunch of fighting mad dogs.

Now THAT is a "sport" I could get into watching.

Vick is fast... but teams have adjusted.
His arm is strong but his accuracy sucks when he has to hit a moving target. When he has to hit a guy on the run over the middle his fluidity falls apart and he frequently throws high or misses by so much you wonder what is wrong. Its funny because McNabb had the same problem.

Vick also has the worst O-Line in football. If it was anyone else, they would be hopeless. Bottom line is that the O-Line needs to buy him atleast a little bit more time.

Philadelphia signed guys to fix every weak aspect oif their game but let their O-Line fall apart. Time will tell if Vick can still salvage Philly's season with the worst front 5 in football. We are only 3 games in but Vick has taken massive hits in every single game, i guess we will see if they can get it together, the big hits Vick is taking are all in the pocket, which means it isnt vicks fault.
