Is manual day trading dead?

As a day trader , I used to suffer from amyglada hijackings , but those who want to learn , separate thread here

Nowadays I day trade . mainly options and futures , and it is easy to make 50 points a week from day trading .I trade only one instrument:Dax

Real traders don't sit at a screen monitoring every tick , jumping in and out of trades , that is forex idiots.Day trading is gambling and you get better chances on a roulette wheel.

Good day traders can make 1 good trade a week , make 50 ticks a week $30 per pip and it gives a nice living , but not in forex , because that is only possible in imagination in forex .

You don't really need more than 20k to make $1500 per week .

You need discipline , mindset and very good 12 " between the ears or a really good strategy and less in the coconut.

can you describe wht you did to no longer suffer from this hijacking?
what did you do that helped you? is it changing the way you trade?

Everyone gets what one seeks in the market: you are seeking 1500$/week; some forex people are more into 5 figures/day ( daytrading). Different end in mind, different approaches, different paths. Each trader make their choices.

I have been away from day trading for many years

... as I look around all I hear is "algos, Quants, high frequency"

.. prop firms going down, Shoenfeld fired people in droves.

What is the truth about trading in today's googly fast machines environment?

In brief. Not by a long shot. Wish I had the energy this early morning to go deeper, but I just don't. It's as easy (or as hard...lol) to make a living as it was 30 yrs. ago. I'm on my thirtieth year trading full time (pofitably)....manually.

It would be great if you shared a little of what you do and some of your ideas

... what markets you trade, some of the things you look for, and so on.

Thank you for your reply.

In the era of Jesse Livermore plenty of big time traders committed suicide after the 29 crash, some went insane and were put in asylums. So what if Livermore killed himself, it does not negate the fact he was a brilliant speculator. Did you burn all your Robin Williams DVD's when he killed himself?

From Wiki it says re: Panic of 1907, "He noticed conditions where a lack of capital existed to buy stock."
What does this mean? How does one measure the amount of sitting capital held by all players? Just the market cap of the whole market?

Market conditions change after the big crash and volatility take a long break, Jess's strategy no longer work in that market conditions.
