Hugh,
Go easy on the alcohol. At least that is my humble opinion.
Markets are hard. I live in one of the most trader friendly cities in the world. I know lots of people in this business. Lots of them have found new careers because it is nearly impossible to find edge anymore. That, or if they stay in the business, they are in the periphery, like programming or project management for a trading firm. One of my friends manages the options book for an energy utility! They got creative. That, coupled with lack of capitalization for the retail trader, makes for at best a difficult environment in which to thrive.
There are lots of sane people on ET. I have met Baron personally, as well as countless others. The problem with trying to have interesting conversations on the internet is that for the most part, there is no self respect - if you don't hold yourself accountable, no one else can or will.
So my posts are mostly meant for me, as a place to keep an honest journal. I sometimes go back five six years ago, and read what I wrote. It is quite interesting to see a younger version of yourself! So if I vomit all over this site, I vomit all over myself. That is my secret. That and brutal honesty. Otherwise, who am I kidding? If I see someone that contributes to a line of thinking in something I have said that contributes in a positive way, I go out of my way as best I can to learn from the person, and hopefully offer something back.
And, go easy on the alcohol. Find another way.
