Yes with some kind of options play and getting ridiculously lucky but the probability of you guessing right is pretty much zero. Also you would loose your entire 25k in a week because you only have enough ammo for 1 trade.

Actually, after a 700 pts Dow drop on expiration day, one only needed to buy slightly OTM puts for 5 cents and they ended up being 2-3 bucks. That is the answer to OP's question.

yes. there are some posters on ET who possess this unique talent.I should have left out the word unique. it is about the same percentage as people in the US who have brown hair.:sneaky:
 
Definitely possible.

On Friday, one week before expiry... you buy 25k worth of delta 5 calls. Then over the weekend takeover negotiations are finalized and on Monday the stock opens +25/30%. Calls are worth 2.5-3 mln.

You need decent insider info for this... and it's actually illegal... but definitely possible.
 
Its as much possible as having a black hole enter our solar system and swallowing it up...

One in a trillion but anything is possible if all the right variables show up that's not trading related.

Yet, most newbie traders don't care about the odds against them. They only care that "its possible". :banghead:
