Is it possible to make consistent profits from trading

I predict you will make another post about predicting the future, and I shall bet that VVG will reply to you about it.

I win before the future is known. Just watch.

Traders sure are sensitive about that word.

Discussing trading is like arguing religion. Smart to do neither, so I'll just go on "predicting the future" like I always have.

I probably can't find a link, so here it is again...

Buy Support
Sell Resistance
Chase Breakouts
Use stops.

If you'll learn to that, you'll be ahead of 99% of other players.

K.I.S.S.

Thanks for your generous sharing. While it looks short and simple, I have trouble digesting some parts of the strategy. If a trader tries to sell resistance, he will be whipsawed if the stock breaks out subsequently. Would it be a good idea to remove "Sell resistance"? Or remove "Chase Breakouts"? The 2 are contradictory. I cannot see the logic of having 2 contradictory strategies. Thank you.

Not contradictory.... may seem so because they occur in close proximity. First one, then the other. Whipsaws are a cost of doing business. Catching a whipsaw is of course costly, but missing a move because you were trying to avoid a whipsaw is even more costly to your P/L.

"Resistance" usually/often(?) holds "because it's resistance". Vice versa for support.

All larger and big moves include breakout(s). They show the market's psychology has changed... perhaps only temporarily, of course.

Wisdom alias common sense :thumbsup:

This is how buy at support and sell at resistance works in a safe way without conflicts.

that is logical and consequent behavior as you never want to participate in noise. if there would be no noise I might maybe tell interesting things.
noise creates noise, noise will never create things that make sense. and even interesting things many times are considered as noise by a lot of people.

Noise is noise until it's appreciated. From there, it has the possibility to be signal. Once one tunes to signal, more signals show up. Each signal has it's own context.

Participating in signal for some looks like noise to others.

Crossing the threshold is the willingness to understand that which is currently confusing or just declare it as noise.

I believe the money that is pictured belonged to the late Mr. Escobar.

Cash on planes would be on wooden pallets for movement with a forklift and wrapped, lest a stack start blow'n in the wind (or so l am told, I have no personal knowledge of these events).

I would like to ask Mr. Escobar a few questions.

Does he post on Elitetrader?

What's in it for them to reveal their hand? Trading is a business. You don't go to Coca-Cola and just ask for their recipe.

Fair question;
+ i doubt if most any would give many details. BUT pattern fragments could be found. If a fund did + not to use an exact plan here, 49 % VWAP early, 51%VWAP late..... And sure IB has better rates, ON AVERAGE, fills than Etrade , , in my opinion. AMTD does answer the phone, much better than Etrade,or IB even if more funds, i guess, use IB??

IBD [ investors.com not really related to IB or AMTD]has a good trading /investing plan; but too bad his 455/+ page system may not even note VWAP, but that is fine??

NOT saying any should blindly follow anyone . He[IBD founder] got cheap NYSE rates from NYSE seat; so i sure would look@ things not requiring a VWAP to be profitable- even though i would rather have, if i had to pick one ,51%..... late in day . Good early VWAP points, i used that idea in my late post, here:cool:. Trading- investing is like medical science, much harder than it looks, mostly LOL:D

How would a trader revealing their strategy damage their personal returns? I've never understood this argument.

Damage may not be the best word, as far as partial fragments;
but put it this way, using the exact same 50 day moving average as as IBD does -NO problem. But since he has gotten better NYSE seat rates than than me ....... NO problem , but i do more CokeCola clear bottled water, most do the red can coke thing . So can crowd to follow something exactlly blindly. Not trying to be cryptic i use 50dma a lot, but not like many do..:caution::thumbsup:
