Is it possible to make $50 to $70 per day with a 4K account in YM ??

With only 4 grand you have to consider how many contracts your broker will let you trade.

How much risk are you going to take on each trade.

What is the maximum draw down your system gives?

Whatever system you use will ultimately determine if you’re successful. Don’t count on your sim trading. I gets way more complicated getting the fills you want with your money on the line.

Stops become way tougher. I’ve had them filled 10 points away when the market spikes.

They're futures options, they settle into the futures. If
the 12800's settle in the money you'll have a position
in the futures Friday. An undervalued short-dated YM
ATM put is a cheaper, lower risk, way to establish a
futures short position. The fact that dilettante "traders"
like JJ do not understand this is hardly surprising.

Averaging $50 a day on 4k is neither stupid nor is it outrageous, and it is not an unsupportable claim.

A $100K bet on an internet BB is.

You haven't called-out anyone, but rather displayed your own trading skills (or lack thereof, you can't even get the security straight).

If you cant' figure-out how to average at least $250 a week with a based of $4k for a YM contract (which has an overnight margin of less than $3k, BTW), that's on you, my non-trading friend, not me. :cool:

Yeah, I know I know I was the one who asked the question to begin with. But mainly I wanted to start a dialogue here pertaining to this question.

That being said from my own experience Trading the YM the last couple of months (and from my regular Trading the last 7 years or so) I honestly and totally believe it is possible to make $50 , day in and day out with a 4k account. Thats an average of $50. Somedays you might lose $100 but then make $150 the next day.


As many of you have commented there is this "If I cant do it, you cant do it" attitude that is prevalent here at Elite Trader. Its wierd how people incorrectly internalize and externalize everything according to their own experience and failures. Thinking because they have worked soooo damn hard to learn and succeed at this game only to find themselves come up short, that surely to God no one else can figure it out either . Its just impossible for them to rationalize that some people have skills that they just dont have..
Really this is so sad. But on the other hand that is their opinion and they are entitled to it.

But ultimately that is all it is. Just an opinion.

And in my opinion the FACT is that it can be done. Without a shadow of a doubt.


Believe it, live it, sleep it , work your arse off and it will happen :cool:

For the OPs purposes, $50-$70 a day, 1 contract is sufficient. Else the conversation would move closer to double-digit percentage gains per day! :eek: :D

Agree, Sim trading should not be the sole basis for success... risk and trade management is the make or break.
 
I think the point here is that it's definitely possible to make the stated gains per day, but for most traders it's simply not probable. If you haven't been trading successfully and consistently for an extended period of time with real money then your individual probability of success is very, very low.

Trading multiple modlels and strategies, it is much harder for
your mistakes to be fatal. And that is the key to consistency.

consistently really believe that you can out-trade Jim Simons

year in and year out. And Rentec is the best there is. Do
you really think you can do five times as well trading one

I honestly believe it is doable, in fact maybe a $100 a day, with more than 1 trade, but you have to be very selective about where you take your trades. They have to be in areas of the chart where your probabilities are the strongest for success. It will become increasingly difficult to attain this same success % are you scale up though, especially with the YM, because it can only handle so much size.

So, from your experience you believe it's possible to consistently make over 300% per annum. Does that mean you have averaged that return over the last 7 years? And why ask the question?
