Is IB that good?

Catoosa, thanks for recommending some other quote service. Thanks others for your suggestions.

Kicking, is TMBR IB MM?

I am sorry for I lost my mind earilier today. What I felt was like having things straight and sticking out but nothing to f8ck out there. It was ridiculous. Well, I don't care about it now. So long.

Quote from Kicking:

IB is great but they have some issues that can be very aggravating at times. Manipulation? I think there could be concern for manipulation on IDEAL but not in real markets even though now that I think of it I had a terrible fill with TMBR yesterday (filled at MKT right at the bottom of a quick downside move while my Quote.com quotes showed market 10 cents higher (Live Charts quotes not very reliable of course but TMBR picked up my shares right at the bottom!) .

On IDEAL I have seen some strange things happen and they can really screw you if they want to.

I don't know if it is the same problem as in France but law authorizes brokers to make the deal directly with their clients without putting his order on the market straight away. They justify the law saying that it is to favor liquidity what a farce : I saw the difference on French options market before and after; the spread and liquidity of stock options have greatly degraded so that it is impossible to daytrade with options you have to daytrade on warrants only. In 1929 this kind of law was forbidden since it allows brokers to play against clients interests: it is remarkable that today clients are less protected by law : no progress so with modern age :)

He speaks in riddles. I'll bet he meant "more".

I've seen bid/ask weirdness that could NOT
be explained by lag alone.

Granted...sometimes IB simply drops bid/ask's I see on RealTick,
simply because their 7/10 a second refresh rate is too slow.

But I get the sneaky feeling that they do produce slightly
off bid/ask's as a way to give them an edge when making
markets ( aka TMBR ).

Could just be my imagination...but if I were IB, and was
basically making the spread with no commisions by trading
against my clients, a few pennies here and there, and
you have a real edge.

I watch when TMBR trades against me, and when it doesnt, and
forwards me to NYSE. I always use SMART routing.
Sometimes when the market looks like its about to make
a move... IB will leave an old, higher offer sitting there, when
the real offer is more attractive and lower.
I queue orders insdie the IB market, but im actually lifting
the offer in the REAL market.

Probably just my imagination.
But you know how suspicious we are...hehe...

IB is great for execution speed and commissions costs.
But if you are a short term tape reader.... IB will screw
you up big time. Your only getting part of the info.

For longer term traders...no issues.

I often get a price improvement from IB TMBR, so I cannot complain about TMBR. I also some times see better price on RealTick due to IB showing only the quotes based on the markets IB covers which in some cases is not the best price for the entire market. That means I may be looking at a better price on RealTick but cannot hit it directly unless I place the trade through RealTick rather than IB. But all considered, I think IB is generally the best place to place the order.

Glad to hear that TMBR is making money off of someone. With all the excellent fills I get from them, I was starting to get worried they might stop making markets.

The reason why I think TMBR is absolutely honest and fair is that the TMBR quote changes in my favor just as often as it goes against me. Either does not happen very frequently.

Thanks.

Thanks.
