Religion absolves people from having to think for themselves. I can see why some people here would find that comforting.
The very notion that an all-knowing god would only declare himself to the world at a time when civilization was still fairly backward and mysticism was rampant boggles the mind. Unless that is the only time such notions could have taken root in the first place. I'll take door number 2.
As for the second commandment, so much for god's anticipating America's First Amendment, eh? How do those two manage to somehow go hand in hand with the people who have absolved themselves of the need to think. Oops, I think I just answered my own question.

Live and let live. Sounds good to me. So when people that want to marry, regardless of their sex, why not live your life as you like, and let others live their lives as they see fit? Or does live and let live only apply to you?
Agreed 100%. I have nothing against people practicing their religion in private. If it makes them happy, all the better. Problem is, religion is not a private matter for people. They have to inflict their belief system on others, like these guys that say two people with the same genitals can't marry because a mute God says so. Then your religion is no longer about what makes you happy, it is about imposing your private beliefs on others. YOU CROSSED THE WRONG LINE.
