Is God mute?

God is mute for pretty much the same reason you don't communicate with the individual cells in your body. You don't have to. They do your bidding for you whether they believe in "you" or not. If they want to have some little customs that's okay, so long as the work gets done.

And God has lots of time. The standard view is that the universe is billions of years old. I think that's an underestimate by a couple orders of magnitude. (Physics is too complicated to bother trying to explain here so don't ask.)

God doesn't worry about little things. Like the 50 million people killed in the 2nd world war. These are minor things. I'd compare them to when you lose a tooth as you go through childhood but the comparison pales. The universe is *huge*. Things that happen on this extremely tiny planet with its very short lived creatures are probably not very important. Not in the whole scheme of things.

Humans are very selfish and have great difficulty seeing things from God's point of view. They think God is there to help them. Maybe get them a Mercedes Benz. Or save them from the terror of Death. They've confused the relationship. God created the universe and therefore man. We are his tools. It's our job to do what he needs. And those needs are many. Sometimes it's hard to figure out what those needs are. But all you have to do is look briefly around you to know that one of them is voting Republican.

at this very moment God is helping me decide what to make for dinner. It's just something we do everyday when the market gets quiet and I start smoking. I use to have a dog. He would talk to you for hours about what to make for dinner. His patience was endless. But he got into it with some coyotes. So now all I am left with is God. Man, if He ever dies I am going to be SOL.

I use to date a girl who was mute. At first it was fun, but after a while, no matter what I did she would have some kind of sign language to let me know I was screwing up. And when a mute girl is pissed at you, there is no doubt. They don't have to say anything. They got all kinds of perfected body language to make you feel just horrible.

the one thing I liked about her, she would make the OK sign in her left hand, and she would give you the finger in her right hand, and then she would stick her right hand with the finger inside her lefthand with the OK sign and look at me with these inquisitve eyes.

So is God mute? I certainly hope so. I enjoy spending time with Him, but I just couldn't handle it if He was constantly bitching at me for every little thing I did wrong today. I like to talk and He likes to be mute, and that works out well for us.

I wonder how world history would have unfolded if before all this mysticism came to be - If science would have been discovered say 2500 years ago before the advent of all these religions, I wonder where we would be as a society now. Probably visiting alpha-centuri. No poverty or homelessness. Possibly no wars. Free great health care for all. We would all be discovering our true talent and genius in rewarding work. Sentient artificial machines whom we partner with in unimaginable ways. No Global Warming taking the human race to the edge of extinction because we would have harnessed the sun already. True freedom and riches for all.

Instead, I walk into a Barnes and Noble, and I see all these kids being mentored on how Moses did this, or how Jesus did that. The kids are totally innocent, it is the adults that commit this crime over and over again.

What a waste.

I don't know anything. I do know that if logic and reason rules the universe, then my belief system is a closer approximation to a just world than what these religions posit.
