Is fundamental analysis less important than technical analysis in forex?

You can combine both types of analysis to achieve your goals. When you use both fundamental and technical analysis, you can get more accurate picture of the market.
I feel it will be more preferable if you focus on one at a time, so you can get the best results. As combining both my be really hectic sometimes. Anyways, people vary and so does their style in the market.

I still can't get my ahead around what people mean under technical and fundamental analytical approaches? How you can fundamentally assess euro tell me please.

A key factor would be the European Central Bank interest rate. The higher the interest rate, the more that lenders of the currency are paid by borrowers, so owning more EUR enables a bank to lend more.

GDP and GDP growth within the Eurozone is also important, especially Germany's. Also inflation, unemployment, balance of trade (imports:exports) etc. etc. Follow an economic calendar such as at DailyFX.com for key announcements, news and their significance. But do not assume its easy to trade these factors short-term, its about the hardest thing you could try.

I do use this data, but you have to simultaneously assess economic situation and policy of EU trading partners to estimate where the risk/risk-aversion flows go. You have to take into account inflation to assess real yields instead of nominal and expectations of market participants and ECB can differ. Their economy is not closed that's why its confluence of economic factors from various countries which can affect euro

Fundamental means the economic factors that drive the price or exchange rate of the Euro. What are those factors? Find them, study how the changes in those factors affects the price of Eurusd or other paired against the Euro. By doing that your conducting fundamental analysis.

Forex is very difficult to analyze using fundamental analysis compared to stocks. There are too many movable parts in a country's economy. For companies, financial statements are much easier to analyze and the data collected is probably more accurate.

Since fundamental analysis is near-impossible, should focus be placed mostly on technical analysis for forex?

I have negligible experience in forex. Just sharing my thoughts.

Do institutional forex traders use primarily fundamental or technical analysis?

After decades of trading, I can tell you fundamental analysis is not really necessary.
You don't even need basic fundamental analysis. Just focus on the charts.

Trading is one of the few professions where at times, the less you know,
the better is your performance.

some people use FA to double check triple check, double confirm, triple confirm before entering their trades. By the time all the planets are aligned, they enter. Then it is too late.

Further FA could be confusing / conflicting.
Experts said in time of crisis, people buy gold (and sell USD).
Experts also said in time of crisis, people buy USD (and sell gold).

anyway make your own judgment.
