Is forex open on the weekends?

Hello everyone, I'm new to forex, so my question is: is forex open on the weekends? It seems that when I log on to fxcm, the server isn't open.

Yes it is, but the spreads are quite wide. Oanda is 10 pips on EUR/USD on the weekends.

Oanda and IB. Could be others, but those are the two I am familiar with.

are there any books or websites to read with information to help a new forex trader learn about the market?

Such as how to use technical anlysis and what values to input on the indicators?

For example when I try to use MCAD, I get confused by what value to input into the box.

When you have a better grasp of FX, then look into books. No point spending $$$ on books for a rookie when you can learn the basics online.

In all honesty though, it really all depends on what you like. FXCM from what I understand is quite good, but I have never liked it for my own personal reasons.

Both are great brokers, so just try out the demo and see what you like.
