is ECC memory necessary for quantitative trading?

i am watching all US stocks for intraday movement from today to last 3 days.

• What are the specs of the box you're running your algo on now?
• How long is it taking to process a new 1 min data tick?
• How many cores does the CPU have, and does it have hyper-threading?
• How many cores are actually running when you're running your algo?
• Are cores shutting down and restarting around your 1 min data tick?

With the 3900 series threadrippers, you've got very good memory channels. Over a 3900X/XT or 3950X, IF you actually have a load that needs it, it is likely worthwhile to move up to the lowest threadripper you can build your own box with, the 3960X.
The 1900 threadrippers are O.K.. Stay clear of the 2900 series threadrippers, due to the way they handle memory.
