Yes, not going to say journals are completely useless for everybody. Just for myself I found more optimal ways and concluded too much public exposure is not that needed in relation to my personal trading results.
A public journal in and of itself is no automatic fix-it. But if several people are working toward a common goal following more or less the same methodology, they can provide mutual encouragement as well as help prevent each other from wandering too far into the weeds. Granted there are times when one just has to go sit in the corner and think things through, but, on the whole, the public journal is a worthwhile endeavor if everyone who reads it behaves like an adult if he is for some reason compelled to comment without having opened one of his own.

Edit: Just looked at your last journal and saw that marketsurfer was on your case from the very beginning. What a drag. That one person can spoil so much is really pretty extraordinary. I wonder how many others elected to not even begin because of trolls.
