Is day trading worth it?

Therein lies the truth about trading.

What you see on the chart or your analysis is meaningless, the market exists outside of the trader's mind. All entries are then random, and only the trader through strict discipline and risk parameters can control winners and losses.

I don't dispute this, if you are trading without a real structural edge.

Anyone who can find 4-6 opportunities every single day and take 2k out of the markets day in, day out has a real structural edge.

The problem is, Grand, this simply isn't true. Regardless of how much rhetoric is used, that's not the way the markets work . I have observed and participated in this game for far too long to believe these types of statements when accompanied "price action" or TA claims. All I can do is share my knowledge. It's your account you should be concerned about, not empty claims of wizard like success.

And how willing are those people going to be to share something that is obviously capacity constrained?

The man (or woman) who succeeds above his fellows is the one who... clearly discerns his object and towards that object he habitually directs his powers. Even genius itself is but fine observation strengthened by fixity of purpose. Every man who observes vigilantly and resolves steadfastly grows unconsciously into genius.

Dilettante, you're hitched to the wrong horse.

I tend to base genius on facts not unsubstantiated claims on an internet message boards from aliases. Please note that your hero's have refused time and time again to provide any evidence of their claims. When this is combined with listing methodologies that clearly DO NOT work as claimed. not to mention refusing to participate in an impartial combine contest without being paid $50,000 ( nodoji) as opportunity loss cost-- doesn't this make you suspicious?

Sadly, you're probably right.
I pretty sure that those who are really making money from trading aren't really interested in charts/price action/patterns etc etc.

I've tried all of the usual price action methods touted on this forum (and other trading forums) by the usual suspects over the years.

You can sometimes have a lovely run of trades where you begin to kid yourself, but over time, over the long-run, you realise that any edge you might have is *miniscule*.
The good patch was luck.
Don't be fooled by the 'results' from peoples hindsight analysis

People like sellindexvol and some of the other pnl crew clearly make consistent money are definitely looking at something else to help them decide where the markets headed, but i've never come close to discovering that secret!
