Yesterday the BBC apologised for playing an old song from the 1940s, which had this word in it.
I had never come across this term before. Not in the UK.
As a dark skinned person of color myself. I would not have taken offense to someone calling me a 'Darkie', as it does not have any racist history as far as i know?
Does this word have a racist history in the US?
I have queued the song to the point where 'Darkie' is being used.
