I can't find any news. No spx option activity, wtf? (Yes, I know CBOE's not on Wall Street.)
ES hit limit down again.
Look at the OP's handle. It says it all.@TooEffingOld I don't wanna be mean, but IMO you should not be trading right now. I see another thread of you asking about limit prices.
You have to realize that mistakes made because of the lack of basic knowledge cost 10 times as much as under normal conditions.
Sit back, take notes, watch and research so you are a better trader when things go back to normal (and they will).
No need to be a hero right now

Thank you, gentlemen, I appreciate the caution.
I'm up about 9% ytd on my main account. I almost exclusively trade index options, and of that nearly all spx. On occasion I've traded es futures options, and I look at es when spx isn't trading (mainly after regular hours).
Just because I didn't know that the es limits were based on a complicated reference price instead of the closing price (https://www.cmegroup.com/trading/equity-index/faq-sp-500-price-limits.html), that doesn't mean I'm clueless.... a shit-ton of people were perplexed by the limit down price being substantially less than 5%.
And yeah, I'm too effing old to do a lot of things, but I can handle my spx self.![]()
Again, thanks for the warning. And lest anyone think I'm bending the truth, here's a shot from just now:

Hmm, that looks kinda crazy, being up 7% in a day, but that's in addition to the 9% base, and with this crazy up/down I wouldn't be surprised if today's pnl swings several % (spx'd have to go back up towards 2700 for me to go negative on the day).
Congrats!
And you seem to trade index options. SPX options are one of my favorite things to trade, though I mostly trade technically (semi-arbitrage), so don't make as much $s...
