Quote from dgabriel:
Capital punishment has never worked in the battle against crime.
People are not born with felonious histories. There comes a time when a person crosses the threshold to commit an abominable act. We have witnessed on this thread the eagerness of executioner-wannabes to serve capital punishment on these criminals. Yet they care not one wit - they really don't, they have said as much - for the would be victims of the felons to be. They stand at the ready to strike dead the next recidivist but they have not the vaguest idea or inclination to reduce the production of serious criminals in our society (save for public hangings, a contribution from ET's resident "genius")
ROFL!
The end result of the decades of well-intentioned work and research done by criminologists, psychologists, social workers, doctors, philosophers, theologians, and law enforcement to "reduce the production of serious criminals in our society" is all you have to fall back on? Yeah, as we can see every day, thanks to their stunning successes we live in a society blissfully free from the worries of murder, rape, child molestation and drugs. Boy I feel better now, dGAB, thanks!!
p.s. I thought you had the resident ET genius on ignore?
Damn right capital punishment has worked on crime. Those who have been executed will not commit the crime again. Even you, feeble-minded as you may be, must recognize that.
Ordinarily you are merely insane, but you do have lucid moments when you are only stupid.
