It's not called Capital Deterrent, Capital Vengeance, or Capital Save the world. It's called Capital PUNISHMENT, with the operative word being punishment. When people commit such violent crimes the punishment is death. Death, simply because those that commit such crimes aren't worth the time or money spent on rehabilitation. When they commit the crime they forfeit all rights otherwise enjoyed by the rest of us.

why not torture then? whats a punishment worth if its not sthg the receiver is meant to remember for future "guidance"?....
bollocks... capital punishment is just a form of therapy for the bereaved who are supposed to need it... trying to give them some form of closure...

The difference is in the way that each person or state who murders rationalizes their actions as "good" or "Godly."

Torture would be seeking vengeance and I stated vengeance was not the reason. Simply executing them is satisfactory, although I would like to see it done in a more cost effective manner. Bullet in the back of the head, body to the furnace...next!
I really feel that punishment of any kind once a person is out of childhood, is a way to send a message to other people that might be thinking of doing the same crime. In childhood it can be a real wake up call to get a swat on the ass but older criminals take all kinds of punishment and love it so it's not much about changing somebody's mind at some point.
The thing about getting a message to a wanna be criminal is that you have few venues and he/she might not be that bright either. What are you going to do, send them a memo?? Many can't/don't read or don't have an address... Have their pastor talk to them?? Many don't know a pastor at all... Get their parents to talk to them?? Not likely that is going to work... now if you take one of their gang guys and blow him away in a public execution with the wanna be's watching... and you turn to the crowd and announce that everybody that does the same crime will be hunted down, captured, tried and blown away in the same manner..... that might be a message they can understand.
