Is being profitable the most important?

One thing I've realized through some posts and thinking/reflecting is that I trade for success.

Now, I need to reflect on what success is for me. Oh... gotta get ready for a new trading day... WOOOOTTTT!!!

(Yeah, it's all the psycho-babble but I guess it's part of my stupidity of thinking about things too much)
 
When you have lots of money, joy, happiness, spirtuality, and hot chics are much easier to find.

Don't let the philosophers try to convince you otherwise. You can have your cake and eat it too.

It feels especially good when you started with nothing and earned it using intellect. That's why I love trading.

I've always felt the geeks will inhereit the earth. :D
 
Money in this arena represents virtue, not virtue in the sense of moral rectitude, but more like virute in the sense that William Caxton would have used the word; 'force' or 'power' -- VIRTUALITY...

While a fat wallet never made a man free and spending it is all the advantage there is in having it,
try staying in the game without it!!!

Is profitability the most important thing, well uhhhhh? :eek:
 
I actually can see why I'm having this dilemma(well, not quite or exactly but close to it)

I have 2 sides as a trader. One would be the analyst and system developer part. I try to find the most effective way to make money trading. The more it's profitable the better it is. It's the part of myself as a trader who tries to earn the edge. It's also the part that keeps me disciplined when I'm trading.

The other part would be mental controller/operator. Basically, I only trade what I know. That why I write and code systems to keep what I know consistant. I do get series of losses but the mental controller part disregards the monetary aspect. I just make the trades and after 50-100 trades I make I just make sure I'm in the green.

Yes, I'm a greedy son of b-tch. That's what my analyst and system developer side is for. Still, from trading, I've divorced that part and built myself as a passive trader. When I operate, I don't have the greedy me inside(well I do but it's very minimal compared to when I started).

As a analyst, sure the profitability is extremely important, probably the most. Still, as a trade operator, it's really not.

So the problem lies inside me from a trading operator or mental controller stand point.

I have a bunch of friends who always love to say
"money cant make you happy".

Ever notice how the people who always say this are
the people that dont have any money? :D

They are all just trying to make themselves feel better
for their lack of financial accomplishment.

I always respond with:

Yes, money cant make you happy, but if Im going to be
depressed, might as well do it next to my pool, at my
house on the beach, with the ferrari in the garage :D

Ill take money along with the "rest" any day.

Money to me is a "fun enabling technology".

In my youth I used to tell myself that all I needed to survive was rice and soy sauce. I do love rice & soy sauce. I grew up on it. My family was poor. But when the money starts rolling in and you start eating oysters, caviar, shrimp cocktail, drinking fine wine, and fancy desserts I can't even pronounce. Now that's the life.

Try taking $50k in $100 bills to you to Vegas. Don't bet more than $200 at any one time and just stay until the money runs out. The dealers often ask me "so how long are you in town for?" and I always say "until the money runs out". You can trade at the business center or if you have fancy hotel with internet you can trade from your room. I just trade the first 2 hours of each morning. Count your money when you go to bed and when you wake up. It's a GREAT feeling!

I enjoy life to the fullest, and money makes it all the fuller. :)

lol.

at best i can say that using the word "meek" was a bad translation from the original greek. as "meek" as defined in the english language means nothing of the kind described in that passage... and such a personality trait could hardly be described as a desirable attribute...
