Is anyone getting rich out there?

I see all of you guys writing on these boards and see pictures of peoples tradestations and it seems like everyone on this thing is a bunch of losers. Guys who can't even afford LCD monitors, guys that trade in some shitty room in what looks like some shitty apartment. So, seriously, is anyone anyone making real coin? And if so, what is the road you recommend? Thanks
Everything is relative ftrade. Obviously you have a superiority complex - which in case you don't know what that means here is a definition for you:
superiority complex
1. An exaggerated feeling of being superior to others.
2. A psychological defense mechanism in which feelings of superiority counter or conceal feelings of inferiority.
If you have '$$$' you shouldn't need to ask for advice on a forum. Go and have a chat to your financial advisor, your CTA, stockbroker, accountant or whatever professional advice you surely must have. Then with your '$$$' you can buy a 10 LCD monitor setup with streaming Reuters and Bloomberg, rent flash offices in Miami with water views, and a seat on the CME,
then you can laugh at the 'losers' on this forum - at your own expense. Because the market punishes those who know not what they do.

Appreciate the input. I have been following the futures markets for a long time and have a great feel for the gnereal direction and market moves. It is now time to start putting my strategies to the test...first with paper trades, then with small wagers. No trades will be made for at least 3 months. So, I understand what you are saying, but still want to get everything in place so I can begin the process. I won't know until I try, but yes, this will be aa very tentative and calculated process. I am not betting on red or black here. If I planned on gambling for a living I'd move to Vegas. It's much more fun and you don't have to pay taxes on your winnings. So, what do you suggest my next steps should be?

I damn sure hope you know more about trading than you do taxes.

With his '$$$' he should seek professional advice before he even posts on a forum - a life coach could be in order :p

haha i was just wondering why John Merchant hadn't weighed in w/ some of these newbie posts. I see he's made an appearance and doled out some advice for young ft. :p

Hey guys-

This is a great site and I am interested in starting to trade index futures for a living. My question is....is anyone making real money out there doing this? I mean high six figures to the millions? I see all of you guys writing on these boards and see pictures of peoples tradestations and it seems like everyone on this thing is a bunch of losers. Guys who can't even afford LCD monitors, guys that trade in some shitty room in what looks like some shitty apartment. So, seriously, is anyone anyone making real coin? You make some very valid points ftrade. I don't know anybody personally who is making big figures trading futures, but I think I won't be wrong if I say, they don't spend much time on internet message boards venting out their frustrations and seeking to alleviate physcological pain. Because they don't have any. Instead they enjoy their pofits in much healthier ways, rather than in front of a monitor, be it tube or lcd.

John47. Thank you kindly. I think that it is important for the community to know that trading failure is not exclusively the purview of the young. And that it is quite possible for one to be highly accomplished in one's field (as I am) and still be an idiot at trading. But my best advice (oft given), is to treat trading as a lark, as one's hobby, less expensive, perhaps, than loose women. If you risk an infinitesimal fraction of your net worth (not your self-worth, that is altogether a different matter) as I do, why, you cannot help but be a success, because nothing is at stake. I follow this same philosophy with women, where I specialize in lonely middle-aged fat girls. They are the sexual equivalent of entering an NQ position in a two-tick twenty minute low liquidity consolidation at midday. My fat girls, like those fools I trade against mid-day, always wind up on their backs.

this is why ET is so lame, a thread about someone seeking advice turns into a flame fest, then further deginerates into a guy bragging about fucking fatties !!

The visual was absolutely frightening on that one.

John
So why do you focus only on fat women? Why work hard to be successful to score with fat chicks? You can be a loser and screw fat chicks too. You focus on lonely middle aged fat chicks my god John you don’t even need to buy them dinner to get laid. I bet you can get them to buy you dinner then massage you with a happy ending. So John I must tell you to use your wealth in better ways. A pretty girl in your bed is so much better and will improve your trading. A pretty girl gives you reason to work harder were a fat girl makes you just want to work longer so you don’t need to see them.

Agreed, seems like the inheritance from the baby boomers is finding its way to the market.

Come on guys, encourage this brave soul. Trade NYSE, you'll make tons of money ftrade. PM for a list of great stocks where the specialist just gives out free money.
