We should have a Medicare type non-profit plan for not just people 65 and over, but for everyone, with 100% coverage and no deductibles, paid for by taxes. Health insurance premiums are extremely costly to businesses for their employees and families and for self-employed individuals, and prices keep going up every year. Who the hell wants to pay $1,000 per month or more for health insurance premiums for one person for a $0 deductible plan. It's one thing if your employer pays 100% of the cost or you have to contribute a measly $20/month towards it (these people are not the ones complaining), but it's a whole different story if you own a business and have to pay the full premiums for yourself, your family, and your employees.

There's some recent article somewhere talking about the effective tax rate in Canada, that explains it pretty well. The point is, it's actually not bad. Well, at least for single guys.

I've worked in both the US and Canada and the tax rates were comparable in Canada (or even less if you compare Alberta to a state with a higher state tax.)

Additionally, getting back to health care, there is no metric where any state health care metric outperforms even the entirety of Canada (except possibly Hawaii which has near universal coverage).

Again, as I already pointed out, when the public is polled regarding each benefit of the health care bill they are in favor of it.

It is similar to when the public is polled about whether or not gays should have equal rights, they're against it, however when they're polled if gay couples should be given the rights of health insurance, inheritance, pension coverage and so on, 2/3rds are for this.

What most people here are failing to recognise is that net profit on health plans is anywhere from 2-8%, the liberals formed a lynch mob on the wrong people.

If you pay 1000$ a year and you save the average of 5% get ready to save a wopping 4$ a month if you remove all profit from the industry.

Now we are also going to add 30 million people to the demand side for healthcare plus every single person with a pre existing condition. Anyone who is writing on this thread who thinks this bill will significantly bring down healthcare costs please put up your hand so i can laugh at you.

It will however add another 2 trillion dollars in debt over 20 years, as dems have done their accounting for 10 years of taxes and only 6 years of benefits, to make it deficit neutral, if you go with 10 and 10 it is not even close to deficit neutral, hmmmm, no lies there i guess. I can not even believe that they are going to jam this heap of shit of a bill through based on faulty accounting where you take in revenues for twice as long as your cost, dems are nothing more than lying thieves.

The average yearly payments for a family is something around $13000 a year right now, not $1000 a year.

I would ask for your source for $2 trillion in debt, but I know you don't have one.
