Go out and get a contractor to do some work in your house and see how much they charge per day with him and another guy.

Gas prices and commodity prices have surged over the last decade. A little sell off in oil from 110 to 85 doesnt mean much, a drop fro 110 to 17 a barrel and $1.78 national average of gallon of gas is a decline.

I dont know where you live, but it would be nice if the rest of the 300+ million people in america got that opportunity as you.

Prices are certainly rising significantly in terms of insurance. Every 6 months my insurer sends me a letter to tell me that my healthcare insurance is going up 25-30%. Extortion is the word for it. & taxes are going up, there's no doubt about that.

However, it really is a mixed bag. I live in IL and here food prices fluctuate but they are certainly not going up. They have got cheaper over the last five years; I would estimate that they have halved. House prices and rents, cars, white goods have all fallen significantly.
I don't agree with you that prices in general are rising. There are pockets of sharp inflation among a generally deflating price level in my opinion.

My health care costs went up over 12 fucking %%%% from 2011 to 2012.
