Even if voters elect a 'good' candidate, they've elected him/her into a well-entrenched system of corruption, which will typically corrode the finest of men and women.
This happens not just directly due to ignorant/dumb voters; but also because ignorant/dumb voters don't hold elected officials to the rules, laws, and required ethics. (Individual 'A,' Etc.) So a shady candidate has little fear with taking their shot at getting some of the corruption pie.
Social media and the www has allowed this dumbassery to spread, and to unify like-'minded' individuals--as we witness in the news daily. This hasn't gone unnoticed by adversarial foreign powers. They stoke the flames systematically.
The American Experiment will get much worse...and that's because of a poor educational system.
An educational system ought not just teach facts, it needs to teach, to a minimum extent, 'how to', and 'how not to' think.
So that certain individuals can know when--considering the evidence--babies aren't likely being eaten at a pizza parlor; to know when RFID chips aren't likely in vaccines; space lasers; passed-away leaders rising from the dead; etc. etc. without waiting for men with one-letter names ('Q') to tell them what to believe.

Last I looked, this was still the greatest country in the world.
Just ask the 1st generation Asian and Indian immigrants that run over 60% of the Fortune 500 companies out there.
Kids that were born dirt poor.
