I'm not sure how a peaceful split up happens when everything and everyone is so entwined. But if the Federal Government left decisions up to the states, it would accomplish something similar and those who liked left leaning policies could move to those locations, and those who liked right leaning policies could do the same.

The Federal government would just have to butt out of everything but what it was designed to do in the Constitution.

As much as the left and the right hate each other I think they could make it.Give conservitives all the Confederate States,Wyoming,N Dakota,split the swing states,split miltary assets etc.

Its the rich and big business that wouldn't want the country split imo as its good for them how it is.

There’s no need for civil war. It is rules that a state cannot secede from the Union but it certainly can be kicked out. We should start booting the losers.

And there is no doubt we are totally divided when we cannot even come together to protect the children. We are not a functioning country at the most basic level. We are a juggernaut of an economy but they are not the same.

You’re nuts. Do you think the south used to be a liberal wonderland of rainbow flag waiving socialists? The south has always, and I mean always, been conservative in culture and economy.

Where the south is currently being built up, like Atlanta, are the liberal areas. I will tell you something else about the south, they have awful construction and their code and regulations is damn near dangerous.

The south is not a place that you can waive a magic wand over and presto change-o you’re in Massachusetts. A lot of their problems is lack of investment in public goods and poor building.

If you don’t get to the root causes, like education, the south will always be the south.

Initially. Once the dust settled and businesses started moving to the more tax friendly jurisdiction, that would change pretty quickly.

If blue states have laws prohibiting guns and yet guns come into blue states from red states that allow them, then by definition people are ignoring the law in the blue state.

But make more laws and maybe one will get lucky? Even if you "boot the losers" and make a different country, you think people are going to follow the law and not go into the new country? You don't even enforce borders when you have one border to enforce. You're going to enforce the borders of some conglomerate state map you create?
